Dry Peeling Skin On Your Face? What You Should Do
Posted on: 24 May 2021
If you have dry and peeling skin on your face, it may be tempting to peel and scratch away at the dead skin. You may also be tempted to scrape your skin to help remove dead skin, but this may leave your skin red and irritated. To help remove the dead skin and heal your skin so it isn't dry any longer, there are things you may be able to do. Read below for skin care tips to help heal your skin.
Exfoliate Gently
Exfoliate your skin gently to remove the dead skin cells that are beginning to peel. If you have dead skin cells, they are going to continue to peel until you remove them all. Using a gentle exfoliating cream you can remove the dead cells. Don't pick at the dead skin or try to peel it yourself, just use the exfoliator to remove the dead skin. Rub it gently into the skin with warm water, and continue to do this every couple of days until the dead skin is gone. You don't want to use it every day to prevent irritating your skin too much.
Moisturize Daily
Remember to moisturize your skin daily to prevent your skin from drying out. Moisturize with facial cream to prevent dryness and to prevent your skin from peeling again. Use the moisturizer immediately after you get out of the shower when your skin is still moist to help hold in the moisture. You should also moisturize before you go to bed at night after washing your face.
Switch Your Facial Wash
Don't wash your face with soap and water, as it will only dry out your skin. You should be using a facial wash to wash your face, which will help clean your skin and your pores but won't dry out your skin too much. If you use any facial wash that irritates your skin or causes you any other issues, stop using it. Bar soap will dry out your skin too much, so stop using this if that's what you are using on your skin.
If you have dry and peeling skin on your face, it could simply be dry skin or the face wash you are using, or it could be a skin condition such as Rosacea or even eczema. Make an appointment with a dermatologist to learn more about how to clear up your skin and reduce dryness. Your skin may require more treatment than what is listed above.
